The Community of Love Child Development Center was established to offer educational and childcare services to the children of Santa Barbara, employing the most recent pedagogical approaches.
Welcome
Our journey began approximately 15 years ago when our founder, Sylvia Olano, transitioned from a career in biology to become an early childhood educator. The Community of Love aspires to provide a nurturing and secure environment where children and families can flourish, fostering a sense of home and belonging. With a commitment to quality care and the latest advancements in child development pedagogy, we strive to cultivate a community bound together by love, acceptance, and peace.
Operating as the core institution, The Community of Love Inc. supports two primary initiatives: the Community of Love Child Development Center, catering to children aged 6 months to 5 years old, and Escuela Qinti teaching a Spanish immersion program aimed to teaching children from 8 months to 8 years old.
In 2018, in response to a need within the Burbank community for bilingual education, Escuela Qinti was founded. In 2019, we expanded our services to reach a small community nestled in the rainforest of Peru, Chazuta.
In 2024, The Community of Love is fonded to provided the best quality care in Santa Barbara county.

Infant-Toddler Service
At our center, we offer high-quality care for infants and young children, following the renowned national PITC program. We prioritize close and trusting relationships between parents and caregivers. We tailor the environment for each child, promoting their growth and development. We adhere to the principles of Magda Gerber's RIE approach, respecting the baby's development and providing a safe and stimulating environment.
Preschool Service
In our childcare,we offer play-based curriculum where we actively listen and observe children to support their curiosity and creativity, express their feelings and thrive as part of a loving community. Through use of emergent curriculum, we extend children’s thinking by providing multiple opportunities for them to express, revisit, construct and reconstruct their ideas, feelings and understandings.
